CRONULLA BEACH HOTEL
After the loss of the Oriental Hotel in 1904 due to fire the site in Cronulla was purchased and a new modern brick hotel was built with modern amenities. The hotel traded well and was a sought after holiday destination by many. As the Cronulla township grew, the hotel became the centre of the town where all types of water people mixed with all types of visitors. Cronulla was serviced by horse and buggy at this time from Sutherland railway station taking about an hour for the journey. In 1911 a steam tram service was put in place between Sutherland and Cronulla therefore increasing the property value of the hotel significantly. The steam tram ran between 1911 and 1931 and was replaced by double decker buses. The hotel was old in 1912 and purchased by a brewery. This piece of history is sized at 29 x 51 cm, numbered, signed, authenticated and limited to 41 copies. This print is also available in a Cronulla Pubs set from Australian History Art.
